visiting my quilts, Lake Michigan lake house

It was my birthday this past weekend and we were invited to the lake house of friends. I love going there in part because I get to visit my house quilt made in 2006 as a fundraiser for those affected by the 2005 Hurricane Katrina. The pattern is one of Bonnie Hunter.

visiting my quilts, Fourth of July

Quilt was made in 2015 with Deanna's fabulous sew-a-long at Wedding Dress Blue.

We had an enjoyable visit with my mother at my sister's house. Good to see my quilt. Great to see mom.

visiting my quilts: party like it's 1999...

I had a quick visit with mom this week. She asked we hang this quilt.
I made it in 1999 using scraps from mom's and from her mother's sewing.
The pattern was in an early Fons and Porter magazine.
Beth uses waste triangles to make a legend of the origin of each fabric.

visiting my quilts--confirmed

Today I visited my friend Marcia who was our oldest son's confirmation teacher. I made this and a duplicate quilt for the students to give the teachers.
So nice to see it in a place of honor in their dining room.
Made 2002.

visiting my quilts--tea at Sharon's edition

My neighbor Sharon and I try to meet for tea each a week. The sun in her house this morning was so lovely, and lead to me getting beautiful pictures of how she displays two of my quilts.

visiting my quilts--a churn dash

We spent new year's eve with friends who several years ago gave us a beautiful week at their dacha when I was recovering from surgery. In thanks I gave them this churn dash quilt.

Blocks finish 7 inches, with the triangle squares finishing 2 inches and the center square finishes 3 inches, the strips finish 1 by 3 inches. (triangles cut from 2 1/2 inch strips with ez angle, center cut from 3 1/2 inch square, strips cut from 1 1/2 inch cut, then into 3 1/2 inch segments.)

remembering Lisa

Last December I posted about our visit to our friends' caroling party and their display of the Christmas village with my quilt used as a backdrop.
Sadly, Lisa died last week. Her husband sent me a picture of how they set up a remembrance area in front of the quilt.
Farewell, my dear friend.

Happy Birthday, Janna!

Janna celebrates her 60th birthday!
We are pictured coloring and playing with farm toys at Grandpa Scholten's feet, 1961.
Beth and I joined her this past weekend to help her celebrate. Note the quilt in the background, made from a delft tile theme block exchange I hosted many years ago.
And, the last picture, Janna's granddaughter climbing the stairs, with a pile of my quilts atop Janna's shrunk.

visiting my quilts--Christmas village edition

We were to a caroling party hosted by our friends Craig and Lisa this weekend and I was delighted to find them using one of my quilts as a backdrop for their Christmas village.
