the matriarchs

Bible Story Theater this year was The Matriarchs. The stories of Abraham and Sarah, Hagar and Ishmael, Rebekkah and Isaac told from the women's view.
This year I was not involved with the costuming; just enjoyed the show. My favorite costumes were the bucketheads in the front row.

I did buy some white shorts and a t-shirt for Seth so he could Walk Like an Egyptian.

Bible Story Theater 2009--Ruach The Breath of God

My photos aren't so good this year of the big cast. Here is Eve as the Tree of Life, Seth and his classmates as Ezekiel's Dry Bones, and, the narrators, Earth Wind Fire and Water, in costumes that only about 10 people in the audience got the joke, but, for those 10 people, it was so worth it.

Bible Story Theater 2008

Another year of Bible Story Theater, this year celebrating its 30th year at St Pauls UCC in Chicago. This year, it was a review of the past thirty years of productions, called "the wHOLYe Bible". People came from around the country to reprise their roles.

I worked mainly with the "Bookettes". I thought "shopworn chorus girls" in planning their costumes. A wonderful theater person came up with the plan for the sandwichboard Bibles. I had a great millinery shop going with church women making the pillbox hats.

I also worked with the Unclean Spirits. Always fun!

Eve was a John the Baptist groupie, a Beehive. My friend Sharon Sikes made her dress.

The Beehives in rehearsal. We had a parishioner who wore a beehive back in the day help organize the hairdos.

Bible Story Theater 2007

I needed two shots to get the cast of thousands (ok, cast of 169). This year, it was "Follow Me" a look at the calling of the women and the disciples. We reused/altered many costumes from previous years.

And, a drop of the Sea of Galillee with her fish, and some of the catch.

the lions' den

This year's Bible Story Theater at our church was the story of Daniel. I was in charge of the lions' costumes--the 4 and 5 year olds. We had a great sweat shop that did most of the work.

I also helped design the costumes for the angels (high schoolers) and the fiery furnace flames (1st and 2nd graders)--but other people did all the work.
