I buy plaid cotton shirts at the thrift stores--here in Chicago the big chains are Unique Thrift (half price on Mondays!) and Village Discount. I take them home, launder them to get rid of that "thrift store smell" and take apart the shirts.
I'm always looking for good cowboy prints to use for these quilts.
My neighbor and friend, Sharon, is a quilter and a thrift store treasure seeker too, and we have a deal where we give each other a sleeve off each shirt we buy.
Lately, I have been finding lots of yellow and orange shirts--must have been a fashion trend a year ago that passed me by.

Great quilts Lynn! I LOVE your plaid boxes..I'd a whole lot rather sleep under that one than most I've seen lately!! A HIGH FIVE for doing a great job with those shirts. Do you read the WWQP BB? There is one of the Judys' over there that does much the same..lots of shirting quilts. I love every one!
Like your Bricks one also, but the boxed boxes are my fave !!
How lucky to have a quilting neighbor...who you can shares thrift store goodies. The quilts are wonderful.
Oh my goodness! I do the exact same thing! I've got piles of plaids and stripes and some prints that I have salvaged from men's shirts! It was an evening thing for me to sit and watch TV and take them apart...I love what you've done with them..hopefully it will inspire me to get back to finishing the jacob's ladder I started making from them!

Love the squares in squares. So soft. I want to feel the fabric. They all look great.
I have taken the liberty to snatch those two close-ups because I collect my husband's old shirts, the ones that are blue and white patterned, believe me, those are many, to eventually make them into a quilt. And this is a fab pattern. I've been toying around with patterns but so far I don' think I've found the perfect one until I came to your blog. Must study them some more and hopefully crack it. The difficulty in my opinion will be the contrasting so that the pattern shows up.
