I love the 16-patch block. It is a strong grid and when done in scraps, the grid gets messed with.

What a lovely scrappy look; yet it is peaceful too with the solid squares. Just found your blog through Wanda's blog: Exuberant Color. So thrilled I have found a new blog to read. Off now to look through your older posts. Thanks for taking time to share your quilts.
ReplyDeletei love the fabrics you have combined to create these blocks.

Lovely quilt--the solids give your eyes a nice resting space--bet it uses up a lot of scraps...hugs, julierose
ReplyDeleteVery cute fabrics in your patchwork. Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThe little children in the one print are adorable!
ReplyDeleteI have started one of these with 2.5" strips for 8" blocks with solids and all African fabrics. I love the 16 patch checkerboard look too and have made several but never get tired of them.
ReplyDeleteWell done, Lynn. another great quilt. ;^)
ReplyDeleteAwesome quilt! I love every one of your plains and prints quilts!
ReplyDeleteGreat blocks! I love all those novelty prints!!
ReplyDeleteI like your description: "a strong grid." I made a 16-p earlier this year and the design appealed for exactly that reason.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful scrappy 16 patch, so colourful.
ReplyDeleteI have been making lots and lots of 16 patch baby quilts and a few lap sized quilts lately. I am cleaning up leftover strips from past projects so I am strip piecing all my blocks. With the units that I don't have enough to make a block, I just sewn them together and make a multi colored patch top. I had a bunch of 3 1/2" strips that I paired with solid Kona and I am now working on the pile of 2 1/2" strips. My strips are African Dutch Wax prints.
ReplyDeleteI love your block with the fish fabric!
