living dangerously

I started this quilt long ago.
The earliest I find in in my blog is 2009 when the top was completed.

I used fabrics from many sources, including precious bits I purchased in 1989 in Japan at a department store. Paul was an adorable blonde toddler who got me access to many things, including a bride who let me watch her try on her wedding kimono.

It is made with Bonnie Hunter's pattern Chunky Churndash.

I finally had it quilted and today made the binding. I had a piece of 1980's Hoffman woodblock collection and hoped it would be enough, and it was.
It was like when knitting faster and faster in hope there is enough yarn to finish the project.
All that remains is pictured here:

I love it when binding does that! Now the bits go in the scrap bin! A lovely finish, all round.

So pretty, and must make a nice memory from Japan. Did you live there, or was it a visit? Also, love your sewing machine! If I’m seeing it correctly it’s a Record, the very machine I learned to quilt on with my grandma.

Great quilt. I'd love to see the whole thing. I own (along with a newer Bernina) that very same sewing machine. I purchase in 1980. I was told it's value has gone up and in fact it's like the now popular "featherweights". It's a workhorse and I wouldn't trade it for anything.

I'm so glad you had enough fabric to make the binding. That can be nerve wracking wondering and worrying, but oh the adventure of it!

Oh it's just too much fun when there's a piece of fabric that has exactly the amount needed! Great job finishing up an older quilt.:)
