I have been making crumb blocks from plaid shirts I have taken apart--the great stripe for the border has been on my shelves so long I have no memory of buying it. The blocks were trimmed to 6 1/2 inches.
Yes, those are Christmas lights still up on March 6th.
Beautiful quilt! I don't think I would have had the nerve to use the purples and oranges, but they fit right in, don't they. I just love it!
ReplyDeleteI have LOTS of fabrics in my stash I have no memory of buying. Is it Fabric Amnesia?
ReplyDeleteI really like this. Great quilt! I bet there are memories attached to some of those pieces.
ReplyDeleteI love it. This quilt looks so lovely and soft, yet the bits of red make it glow. Gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteSame comments from me. This turned out so nice soft, and comfy. Great job!
ReplyDeleteWell they're actually 'winter lights' are they not? :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful colours together. Sometimes blue and red can be not such friends, but these plaids really work together. Well done Lynn.
Oh Lynn, this is SO great! I just love these "utility" type quilts so much..they feel like home!

Hi Lynn, I absolutely LOVE your crumbs! What a great and practical use for some of those odd bits that are in our baskets once the shirt is apart. I had never thought of a string or crumb quilt top..*VBS* Thanks for the inspiration! Hugs, Finn
ReplyDeleteTerrific demonstration of what crumbs really are...and that no matter the color or the size...they all just work!
ReplyDeleteMy husband can only buy new shirts if I can use them afterwards! I love using plaid and the crumbs are really a good idea to use up sleeve tops, pockets, ... Great job!
ReplyDeleteGreat quilt! I love how it looks like an old time utility quilt.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful quilt. And that from shirts. It looks so cozy !
